Fun Facts
One fun fact about me is I love sailing! I was a competitive sailor for many years, and I was honored to win multiple national competitions. I also love hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, and photography.
About Me
I am currently a PhD student at the connecticut">University of Connecticut studying Educational and Developmental Psychology. During my undergraduate degree, I double majored in Political Science and Psychology with a minors in Human Factors, Economics, and Human Development. My current research focuses on educational support interventions in and out of the classroom (including tutoring)!
Experience
As a part-time nanny for over 4 years, I was fortunate enough to work with students with learning disabilities. I've supported children ages 5-14 with ADD, ADHD, and ASD in all subjects. I have also worked extensively with elementary school students in SPED to improve classroom-based evaluations. Outside of my work with younger children, I have 500+ hours tutoring high school and college students in writing, study skills, and exam prep.
Approach
At the core of my tutoring philosophy I believe that confidence building is the greatest key to success. As a student who thrived under supportive conditions, I understand how frustrating it can be for students to learn in a classroom environment. Often teachers don't have the time to fully attend to each student's specific needs and my goal is to fill in those gaps. I have a deep passion for supporting students who may be struggling academically, regardless of the subject.
