About Me
I am currently a Junior at Fordham University with a major in biology. I am in the process of switching majors to economics, while also remaining to take pre-medical courses. My career goal is to become a doctor. I have also been volunteering at two hospitals in New York City.
I have two siblings that are younger than me that I have tutored for years on a daily basis. I have also tutored countless neighborhood kids in a variety of subjects over the years. My last tutoring experience was at Kumon. Kumon focuses primarily on math and reading-comprehension/new-york/new-york">reading comprehension. I enjoyed teaching at Kumon because I got to work with kids from the age of 4 to 16. I was the head of math, while I was employed there and had to know how to teach basic calculus to kids. It was a great learning experience.
My tutoring approach focuses on teaching my students the bare basics of whatever they are trying to learn. From there I would slowly build their confidence by progressing through problems with increasing difficulty. If they are not able to complete a problem I will explain it to them and give them a similar one until they understand the concept. I also like my students to teach what they have learned back to me. From prior experience, this has really stood out to me because it is a surefire way of engraining knowledge into one’s memory.
