Fun Facts

I have recently become a mother to a beautiful boy on 12-2-13. I love to cook!!!! Whether it is something I have made a hundred times or something I have never made before. Just all those delicious smells morphing together can get me excited. I hope to one day go to culinary school, just to go. I had a small rocks and mineral collection going, sadly some of was lost during a move.

About Me

I am currently enrolled in the College of Education at wayne-state-university">Wayne State University. I am majoring in Elementary education with a concentration in Science. I am currently a Senior, and have just been accepted into level two for my degree. After college I am hoping to work in a school around the city of Detroit where I grew up. I ultimately wish to become an educator to help future generations in putting their best foot forward to better themselves with the power of knowledge.

My detroit">tutoring experiences are that of a normal college student and then some. I have always helped detroit">tutor my younger sister in her studies, normally math and science, helping her understand better why two plus two equals four. I have experience working with preschool children and helping them with their colors, numbers, writing, and occasionally speech. I have also for a short period of time volunteered my time in a local Detroit middle school with ELL’s students. In my more recent years I have been introduced to ‘El Centro De San Jose’. This is a small center in Detroit that detroit">tutors local school students, while involving the community into their program.

Going through the school system, I always enjoyed my classes. I never had a real problem with studying or grades, but I also realized that the way I interpret information is completely different for everyone. No two people are the same and I came to realize the way I was taught in school is not the way I wish to teach and spread knowledge throughout these untapped vessels. Reading out of textbooks, tests, and essays are all still very much used today but I want to incorporate fun into a learning environment. Create an interesting atmosphere that will help children not only understand the material but enjoy it as well. I do not want to just give them the answer but ask them questions along the way to know they understand the answer and why it is.
