Fun Facts
I am infatuated with the culture and history of Japan, so much so that I've decided to incorporate it into my career. I'm currently in the process of learning both German and Japanese, and I've also picked up Karate on the side. I've been to Germany, Japan, Canada, and Poland, and I've seen a good bit of the United States as well.
About Me
I am a freshman at Louisiana State University with a double major in History and Philosophy. Because of my successes in Advanced Placement classes in high school, I am on track to complete my degree in 3 years, and am considered a Sophomore, academically. After graduation, I intent on going to UW Seattle to attain my Doctorate in History, and hope to become a Tenure-Track Professor, and specialize in Japanese History.
Experience
During my Senior year of high school, I privately tutored a middle school student in American History, which helped him pull his grade up from a C to an A. Now that I am in college, I wish to turn this into a more sustainable living and expand the spectrum of subjects I teach.
Approach
During my time in school, much of the humanities was made exceptionally uninteresting by teachers who simply listed facts out of a textbook. After discovering my passion of History and Philosophy through my AP Euro teacher, I realized that the problem with K-12 humanities instruction is the fact that the teachers show the through-lines between different subjects and ideas. In my tutoring, I hope to make students interested in the humanities by showing them everything going on under the hood.
