Fun Facts

I may have a BA in Mathematics, but Art is my passion! I love the crossover between any STEM field and the arts. I love to paint and draw and I often work with resin to create functional art, which is really just chemistry! I also love to belt out showtunes in my car. It's my favorite thing to do when I'm alone.

About Me

I graduated from Reed College with a BA in Mathematics and a concentration in Studio Art. For my undergraduate thesis titled "The Jacobian Group of a Graph" I included original content, which is very rare for undergraduate level study. For the final in one of my art classes, I did a cross disciplinary project and made a physical representation of one of the graphs discussed in my thesis.

Experience

I have been tutoring students from grades 1 to 12 on and off for the last 10 years. I have helped students go from a D to a B+ in a matter of a few weeks, as well as tutored AP Calculus. Not only can I help students of higher level math through high school, I am great with young kids too.

Approach

I believe everyone can be good at math. It all depends on how one is taught and the way you learn. I have patience when needed, encouragement when required, and build confidence while keeping kids engaged and focused. I have a calm but fun presence and can teach in a manner that is both gentle and firm.
