About Me
My current academic interests include contemporary American poetry and fiction, translation, Japanese Poetry, and rhetoric. I have a MFA in Creative Writing from San Diego State. My future goals include teaching college-level writing and publishing.
I have worked with students all the way from the college-level down to sixth graders. At San Diego State, I worked as a drop-in tutor for the Writing Center where I helped students revise, rework and rewrite their essays. I also worked as an instructional assistant for the Rhetoric and Writing Department at SDSU, and I have taught my own classroom teaching beginning composition.
I enjoy one-on-one tutoring because it affords me the time and energy, unlike a classroom, to pour individual attention to a student. Especially when it comes to reading and writing, different students have different strengths and weaknesses. I love to challenge students intellectually while also being sensitive to any anxieties they may have concerning the subject.
