Fun Facts

I'm always full of stories and jokes that I love to share. People may not always find me funny, but my response is "laugh and world laughs with you". I'm passionate about a lot of things. I'm enthusiastic about learning. The reason I tutor is because I believe, that I can always learn from my students, regardless of age or subject matter. I never leave a tutoring session feeling as if I had simply left a job. I really care about helping my students not only pass the class, but being able to fin

About Me

I am in my third year of the MD/Ph.D. program at UT Health San Antonios. I was a neuroscience major in college and currently conducting neuroscience-related research. I love gardening, playing tennis, and caring for my 3 cats. I've been a tutor for almost 10 years because I love teaching. I am committed to being a lifelong learner which, to me, involves constant teaching and mentorship.

Joy and passion should go hand-in-hand with learning, a concept that I consider to be my primary goal as a tutor. Being engaged with the material can be one of the most fulfilling experiences for a learner, and I believe the key to achieving this is developing the confidence to guess and be wrong. Once incorrect answers are no longer feared, I find that students start to take pride in studying and completing their course.

Experience

I have tutored for almost ten years, across all ages, and in a wide variety of subjects. I have spent multiple years tutoring 40+ hours/week, including as a tutor for my undergraduate college and graduate school. I took a brief break early in medical school, but I have decided to start up again since I miss it too much!

Approach

I consider myself to be a very active tutor, often encouraging students to learn by teaching me. I encourage mistakes, as they are crucial to learning. Additionally, I prioritize positive reinforcement, in part, because it is underprovided by most educational systems. I want students to build confidence in themselves and their ability to solve any problem.
