Fun Facts
I love to read. Vonnegut is my favorite author and in my spare time I can be usually found nursing a cup of tea while re-reading "God Bless You Mr. Rosewater". Although I'm not very good I enjoy playing guitar and pick-up soccer on the weekends.
About Me
I'm a sophomore at NYU double majoring in Sociology and Computer Sciences. I'm fascinated by how technology intersects with personality in our lives and especially data analysis. Currently I'm working on a small grant funded research project that examines Treatment Courts in the New York and Pennsylvania area for the NYU Sociology department.
As a member of the National Juniors Honors Society in High School I tutored people twice weekly my junior and senior year. The summer of my sophomore year in high school I worked with children as a volunteer within the inpatient playroom of UPMC Children's hospital. The next summer, I organized and ran a project wherein I held a weekly program called “Fun Food and Fitness” aimed at teaching children and their parent’s healthy nutritional values. I hope that Frog tutoring will give me the opportunity to help other kids discover a love of learning and become better students.
I've found that the best way to build lasting skills in any subject is to be persistent and inquisitive. Many students have difficulty dealing with the frustration of getting the wrong answer or not immediately understanding a concept. I think that the best way to combat this is to be encouraging and help the student ask the right questions to reach the answer on their own. This way they gain fundamental study skills that help them to succeed in all areas of the classroom.
