Fun Facts
One of my biggest passions is sports. I love to watch and play just about all sports. I am the oldest of 4 kids and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am originally from Virginia but I have grown up in Salt Lake City. And I love to travel and learn new things about people and their culture. I also love dogs, I have grown up with golden retrievers, black labs, and I currently have a 9 month old australian shepherd.
About Me
I just graduated from the University of Utah in Athletic Training and am currently finishing a few more classes so I can apply to Medical School. I have just taken the MCAT and I am waiting for my score. As of right now I am most interested in becoming an orthopedic surgeon since that is where most of my background is in. I have always loved helping people and have always seen myself being a doctor when I am older.
My tutoring experience mainly includes time spent with The Boys and Girls Club after school programs. I would help elementary school, middle school and high school students with homework or any subjects that they were struggling with. I have also gained experience from being a teaching assistant for a few of my classes while in school and from using tutors myself.
For me personally hands on learning and experience are what help me best. The more you do something the better you will learn it. That being said having someone around that knows the subjects and to walk students through troublesome problems and concepts, and then allowing them to do it on their own, is very beneficial. Also tutors should be there not only to help the student with concepts and problems but also motivate them to develop better study habits that best fit them. No two people learn exactly the same way.
