Fun Facts
I love singing (I'm a second soprano) and have performed in school and community choirs throughout all stages of life, including at Portland State. I'm originally from Virginia and Oregon is the second state in which I've lived. I enjoy going to Geek Trivia in Portland and like anything pop culture, science fiction, and fantasy.
About Me
I graduated from portland-state-university">Portland State University with an MST in Biology (3.88 GPA). At my undergraduate institution, The College of William and Mary, I graduated cum laude with a 3.55 GPA (BS, Biology and Environmental Science). I also graduated with honors in Biology after conducting a research project and writing an undergraduate thesis. As a recent graduate of PSU, I am planning on teaching laboratory courses.
Experience
I was a teaching assistant at Portland State for five years. I have taught the Principles of Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology laboratory courses during that time.
Approach
I have a positive attitude and help students feel encouraged to learn. In high school, I took IB courses, so I understand the rigor and expectations of secondary education. I have taken a variety of undergraduate and graduate Biology, Environmental Science, and related courses, such as Statistics, so I bring an extensive knowledge base to the table. As an educator, I strive to be helpful, creating ways to remember the material and suggesting ways to study.
