Fun Facts

I love mystery novels, especially those by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. I also enjoy reading books and articles on archaeology, ethnography, astronomy, art history, and colonialism. I love to hike, travel, dance, learn new things, listen to music, visit museums, and make new friends. One of my favorite hobbies is dancing Ballet Folklorico, traditional Mexican folkloric dances. The colorful costumes and energetic dance steps are so much fun to watch!

About Me

I am a recent graduate from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeological Studies. I was born and raised in Dallas and attended Dallas-ISD public schools until I graduated Valedictorian from Townview Law Magnet. I was the first in my family to attend college, and am now making plans to attend graduate school for archaeology in the fall of 2013.

Although I don't have formal dallas">tutoring experience, I have tutored my younger sister (now in 5th grade) since she entered school. I have motivated her to attend college, and she is now working on applications for vanguard middle schools. I have also tutored my peers in college-level math, bringing their grades from failing to B or higher.

As a dallas">tutor, I will address questions that elucidate the problem at hand without simply giving students the correct answers. I know from personal experience that students learn better when they reach the correct responses on their own, rather than only learning the answers to the problem and not how to get there. I believe that with patience and positive encouragement students will become more confident, be more excited to learn, and realize their full potential.

Although I consider myself to be an easy-going person, I have strong ambitions and see my goals to the end. As a mentor, I hope to impart this attitude and help students see that they, too, can succeed!
