Fun Facts
I love nature and the outdoors more than anything! Having grown up on the northwest side of San Antonio, I spent plenty of time going for hikes in the Hill Country, and it fueled my love of science and anything to do with nature. I especially love meteorology, and can talk about the weather for hours. Reading is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a long, stressful day.
About Me
I am a 7th grade science teacher here in San Antonio. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Community Health from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2015. I plan on returning to school to earn my Masters in Education. I want to continue to provide the best education to my students that I possibly can!
Experience
I am a full time 7th grade science teacher, and I am certified to teach Science Grades 4-8. I tutored students after school at my current position, and previously volunteered as a tutor for Communities in Schools to several 6th grade students in the Winter of 2019 until the spring of 2020. My training, education and experience have given me the skills to enrich the lives of many students.
Approach
When I was growing up, I found that the more I was able to relate my studies to my every day life, the easier I remembered them. I try to show students real world examples and comparisons to help them learn difficult new concepts. Sharing analogies, experiences and positive reinforcement are hallmarks of my approach. As an educator, it is my job to ensure that students are excited to learn, and I strive to make my classroom somewhere they WANT to be.
