Fun Facts
One of the most interesting things about me is that I am trilingual (English, Spanish, Italian)! I am most passionate about writing, reading, and language, which is what I look forward to sharing with students through this job. For fun, I love to write, read, bake, attend ballet classes, and perfect my fashion sense. I would love to learn a fourth language while living abroad one day.
About Me
I am currently a senior at Northeastern Illinois University, majoring in Spanish and minoring in English. I have been lucky enough to be on the Dean's List for the entirety of my career at Northeastern and plan to keep it up. In the short term, I want to complete my TEFL certificate in order to teach English as a foreign language abroad (preferably in Europe or Latin America). Afterwards, I want to attend graduate school in order to fulfill my goal of being an English teacher.
Experience
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I was tutoring adult learners of English at Heartland Alliance on a weekly basis. During the pandemic, I made the decision to take a semester off of school in order to work full time assisting kindergarteners with their online education. I am excited to grow as an instructor and adapt my prior knowledge in order to work with new age groups and develop new skills specific to their needs.
Approach
Although I have always been passionate about writing, I strongly disliked formal education until I got to college. It was at NEIU that I met teachers that not only motivated me to work hard in their classes but that inspired me to become a teacher myself. Similarly, I want to emphasize with my students that there is no such thing as a perfect learner. Together, we will determine what techniques work best for them individually in order to master the content most relevant to them.
