Fun Facts
A passion of mine is writing, especially poetry. Words fascinate me because like art, they interpret life. When learning how to utilize words and language, people can obtain the tools and mindset to connect to one another. Whether it involves a professional resume or creative piece of literary work, words hold power. We all know the saying "the pen is mightier than the sword." Words can create a universe of meaning and beauty, therefore my dedication to delivering them in such a way is crucial.
About Me
I just recently graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in English from CSU Bakersfield. I have been on the Dean's list the passed year and a half. This semester I graduated with straight A's and am part of an English Honor's Society called Sigma Tau Delta. My short-term goal is to continue publishing my writing, and my long-term goals are to become a published author, and a high school English teacher once I obtain my Single-Subject Teaching Credential within the next two years.
Experience
I have been tutoring on and off for the passed four years at a community college I graduated from called Cerro Coso Community College. Some of my poems have been published at CSU Bakersfield and I am currently working on an essay that will also be up for publication this Summer through another journal at the university. I know how to create and edit podcasts as well as write articles for news style journals. I can assist with journalism tips as well.
Approach
In elementary school, I had a learning disability and stutter. This embarrassed me and lowered my self-esteem as a child. Once I was able to overcome these obstacles, reading and writing slowly started to interest me. During college, I realized that learning disabilities and speech therapy seemed to be more common than I thought. As a teacher and tutor, I hope to aid all types of learners and do as much as I can to help them find their passions in life.
