Fun Facts
As much as I love chemistry and teaching I'm also an avid gamer! I play most of the major titles, but mostly league of legends. Cycling is what I use to relax, and I'm hoping to hit a 100 mile ride someday. I'm the oldest of 6 and my youngest brother just turned 12!
About Me
I am a PhD candidate at the University of California, Davis. I'm getting my degree in agricultural and environmental chemistry so I have a special interest in environmental issues and chemicals. I'm currently teaching a couple chemistry classes at Reedley College and College of the Sequoias. My ultimate goal is be a full-time tenured faculty. Teaching is my passion!
Experience
I tutored at my undergraduate college in English and chemistry. As I said above, I do have classroom teaching experience, even if those classes were fully online. I'm very familiar with Zoom, and I've found some cool ways to make the platform more engaging for my students.
Approach
Chemistry can seem like a very abstract subject, but I believe that analogies are the way to bridge the gap from the macroscopic to the atomic world. Often it just takes the right analogy and a commitment to understanding that can unlock a world of curiosity. I want to teach the concept not just a formula for solving specific problems or taking a test.
