Fun Facts

I absolutely love running, even though I have suffered multiple knee injuries, including a surgery. I actually ran track in middle school, high school, and college, running the short sprint events and jumping events! Besides track, I love soccer and watching football. I currently coach the middle school soccer team at the school I teach at! I have a twin sister who is also a teacher!

About Me

I am an 8th grade science teacher at Berryhill School in CMS. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in maryland/baltimore">Baltimore, MD with a degree in Sociology and Public Health Studies. I teach 8th grade science, but am passionate about learning in any subject area. I hope to continue teaching, and eventually work in the education field at a higher level, perhaps in education policy or adminstration.

Starting in high school, I tutored elementary students at a local school, focusing on reading-comprehension/north-carolina/charlotte">reading comprehension. In college, I continued charlotte">tutoring through the Story Pal Program and through working and leading the Johns Hopkins Girl Scouts. Through Girl Scouts, I conducted weekly sessions with elementary students focused on homework help and life skills. Currently, I teach 8th grade science, as well as aid students with Language Arts and Math, as students are often lacking skills in those content areas. I am excited to charlotte">tutor students, as I feel one-on-one instruction is very beneficial for struggling students. I have also worked with students through coaching students on our school's soccer team. I also coached students this past year for the Girls on the Run team at my school.

I understand that every student has a different style of learning. I believe that an individualized approach to charlotte">tutoring is best. Finding the best way to understand the information for the student is critical. Throughout my life I have found study skills that work for me and this has helped me succeed in college and beyond. I hope to help students find the best study skills for them so that they can use those skills for their entire lives. I also hope to foster a love for learning that I grew to have as a child. I loved learning pretty much every content area and found this love through teachers and charlotte">tutors that made the content interesting and relevant to my life. I hope to make content relevant for all students that I charlotte">tutor in order to interest them in learning in general.
