About Me

I am a math tutor in Seattle, Washington, and I graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and an Interdisciplinary Honors Program certificate from the washington">University of Washington. I have been tutoring students in Math for 8 years. I have spent 2 of these years working with a local Mathnasium tutoring center and am trying to establish my own independent math tutoring business. My ultimate goal is to tutor math full-time and eventually pursue a graduate degree in education.

Experience

I have been tutoring math for 8 years now. Most recently, I have worked at a local Mathnasium tutoring center for 2 years, developing skills with students of all ages and abilities. Prior to that I volunteered as a math tutor with various organizations over a 5-year period. I was on the advanced math track in junior high and high school, completing AP BC Calculus as a senior in high school. I succeeded in college-level Calculus and Statistics while at UW.

Approach

Math can sometimes feel daunting for students, but it is my belief that every student should and can feel confident in their mathematics ability. Students often need help mastering the foundational concepts of math that are often covered too quickly or explored in a singular way in the classroom. My goal as a tutor is to listen to and understand each individual student's needs to succeed in their math courses and provide them with the tools necessary to do so.
