Fun Facts
While I love teaching and tutoring, I have many interests and hobbies! In my free time, I love to read, make art, practice music, and get out into nature. On a nice weekend day in the spring and summer I can be found hiking, or paddling a kayak around a local lake. There's nothing as invigorating and refreshing as exploring nature's beauty!
About Me
I am a teacher and tutor with experience teaching ELA, reading, writing, math, music, art, and beginning band! I love teaching students one-on-one and in small groups and find it so rewarding when I can help them bridge the gaps in their learning and achieve to their highest potential.
Experience
As an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to volunteer my time tutoring students in surrounding schools in all subject areas, working closely with their teachers to ensure each student's understanding. As an experienced educator and tutor, I have continued to teach and give one-on-one, small group, and whole group instruction to struggling students while making sure to plan for and respond to each student's unique learning needs.
Approach
I believe that all students can learn and achieve their goals if supported with the proper tools and targeted instruction. It is my mission to ensure that all students I teach feel empowered in their education. I make sure to get to know every student on a personal level, incorporate their interests into lessons where possible, teach study, organizational, and self-advocacy skills, and assess students to ensure that my targeted instruction is meeting their educational needs.

MastersWriting Advance Tutoring
I have tutored students in the art of writing for 8 years, helping students successfully articulate their thoughts in an organized and fluent manner. I have achieved an A in all of the English courses I've taken in college, and have successfully written several grants, earning my school thousands of dollars in new equipment.
Arts Tutoring
I have taught the arts in public schools to kindergarten - 8th grade students for seven years. In this time I have written and produced plays, created and directed a choir, and taught middle school band. I also teach flute, ukulele, and art lessons.
English Tutoring
I have taught English to kindergarten - 8th grade students for 7 years. I've also enjoyed tutoring English online for over a year! I excelled in English in college, and transformed my love of reading and writing into helping others read and communicate more fluently.
ESL Tutoring
Throughout my career as a teacher I have taught students from all backgrounds and levels of English speaking. I make sure to make students comfortable, enable them to work with others that speak their language, and increase accessibility for them. I've taught ESL to students of all levels and look forward to helping more students learning English as a second language increase their English skills.
Homework Coach Tutoring
As a lifelong learner and teacher, I understand that homework and studying can be overwhelming. I have been there myself, and have had to seek and create resources to manage heavy work loads. I have helped students make homework completions plans, check in for accountability, and keep an up-to-date list of tasks that need to be completed. Large amounts of homework don't seem so scary when students are organized and purposeful about their work!
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Comprehending what has been read is a foundational life skill that helps students understand and respond to text, formulate and defend opinions, and apply for and keep jobs. I am distinguished at reading comprehension and teach several strategies to help students hone their skills. Students will learn pre-reading, note taking, close-reading, and other strategies that will benefit them in their quest for great reading comprehension.
