Fun Facts

I love to do a variety of things. In my free time, I listen to podcasts and audiobooks or read articles in order to learn new things or hear new stories. I am a world traveler and I have been to most of the continents (3 to go!). I love music and I have been singing for over 12 years now and have even been a part of some acclaimed choral groups. I'm also big into technology!

About Me

I am a recent graduate from Emory University, with a BA in Latin with a minor in Arabic. I completed my studies at Emory with a 3.6 overall GPA and a 3.9 major GPA. At Emory, I won a variety of awards and recognition such as the Oxford College Latin Award and becoming a member of the Eta Sigma Phi Classics Honors Society. I am currently focusing on achieving true fluency in Arabic, Russian, and Spanish before moving on to learn some other languages. I am still deciding on exactly how I will employ my language skills.

I have tutored professionally for over 3 years to date. I began as a Supplemental Instructor at Oxford College of Emory University for the Arabic classes. The following year, I began working with Varsity atlanta">Tutors and working as a freelance atlanta">tutor. I have tutored students as young as 3 and as old as the mid-40s in a variety of subjects. My forte is Latin, but much of my time is also spent atlanta">tutoring test prep for the ACT, SAT, SSAT, and ISEE or assisting students with Math (K-12).

I always spend the first session getting to know the student and their parent(s). I view the first session as a consultation of sorts, so we focus on a variety of things so that I may properly gauge where a student's strengths and weaknesses lay. Based on that first meeting, I devise a plan for each student individually based upon their needs. Communication is vital to this process, so I always make sure to communicate goals and progress to students, parents, and teachers whenever possible.

Generally, I am a relaxed and patient individual, so I get along easily with all my students. If possible, I try to relate the subject matter to real world problems or add in learning incentives such as cool facts which all my students enjoy. Doing this, time seems to fly by!
