Fun Facts
When you are talking to me, you will never leave the conversation without hearing something about dogs! You will definitely hear about my two dogs, Rupert and Luna. I love all things dogs. I love learning about dogs and training my dogs to do new tricks. I have even taught one of my dogs to count, recognize her numbers and to read! I enjoy going outside in the parks, of course with my dogs. We love going hiking, and I hope one day to take up kayaking!
About Me
I have a degree in elementary education, and I graduated summa cum laude. I taught in the classroom for 5 years before transitioning to private tutoring. I also have a TESOL certificate--Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. In addition to private tutoring I also work in medical billing and coding.
Experience
In my years as a classroom teacher, I taught students from around the world with varying degrees of English proficiency. I encouraged them to learn in the way that best suited them as an individual so that they could excel as a student. My focus as a tutor and a teacher has been in younger elementary age and preschool students to help them where they struggle in math, reading and science.
Approach
I love to help each child understand that they have what it takes to be successful within themselves. I like to get to know my students and see their approaches to learning things and then tailor my teaching style for that student. I like to utilize games, questioning and other teaching skills to bring out the best of each student.
