I love reading and fiction of all other kinds. I'm passionate about my faith and devote a lot of effort to serving others because of it. My favorite thing to do is go with my sister on short vacations- I love my sister and also new experiences in new places.

About Me

I am a senior Math and Statistics major at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I have a 3.8 GPA and a 3.75 GPA in math classes. I've loved to look at data and numbers since I was a kid and am so excited to soon be entering a career in doing just that, after I earn my master's degree in Statistics.

Growing up, all through school I was eager to help my classmates who struggled to grasp the concepts we were being taught in school. I helped a lot of them through many topics in our spare classroom time, but never became an official dallas">tutor until I volunteered my junior and senior year to help students struggling to pass their math classes in an after school program where they could go through failed tests to receive more credit after understanding their mistakes. Last summer, I volunteered as an ESL dallas">tutor, teaching English phonics to immigrants. It reminded me of how enjoyable and rewarding helping others to understand is to me, which is why I applied to become a dallas">tutor here.

My belief is that all students know more than they are aware of, and because they don't realize how far along they truly are, they become discouraged and overwhelmed. I take each learner step by step through the concepts, allowing them to show me- and display to themselves- what they already know. When we run into that one stumbling block, I explain it with patience and persistence. In my opinion, patience is the most important skill a teacher can have, because people are capable of learning so much more if given the proper time to understand it. Before I move on from any concept, I make sure the student can explain it to me in full, which helps them to process the concept in their own thoughts and words in addition to checking that they've understood it.
