Fun Facts
One fun fact about me is that I love animals, especially dogs. I've always had dogs in the house when growing up, but going off to college (in Ohio, my parents are in Utah) I miss animals. So, I volunteer at the animal shelter walking dogs in my spare time. I also am an avid runner and am training for my second half morning.
About Me
I have just completed my course work for a MS in Physics from OSU with a 3.740. I also have an undergraduate degree from OSU, BS in engineering physics with a minor in nuclear engineering with a GPA of 3.698. (Cum laude with honors research distinction)
I plan on joining the United States Air Force as an officer in either research and development or satellite intel reconnaissance starting hopefully next calendar year but due to security clearance checks it might take longer.
I have had over half a decade of columbus">tutoring experience. In high school I tutored math and physics to students including, pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus. I also took the Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Physics B, Physics C mechanics and Physics C electro-magnetics AP exams in 2007 and 2008 (receiving 4s and 5s).
In undergrad I worked in the physics columbus">tutor room, columbus">tutoring students intro physics courses, both algebra and calculus based physics.
As a graduate student I have been a teaching assistant to calculus based physics which mostly involved doing physics homework problems on the board and supervising labs and quizzes.
In all my experience as a columbus">tutor I've learned a lot of ways of rephrasing problems to try and get students to understand. Physics problems can essentially be boiled down to math word problems which most students struggle with to begin with. A lot of students shut their brains off in the middle of reading word problems. I find making them parse through problems, writing down information thats given and what exactly the problem is asking for is all the help they need.
If that isn't enough for the students the problem is usually that their math skills are not strong. When columbus">tutoring math the best way to get the students to understand is repetition.
