Fun Facts
I am interested in materials engineering as a career choice because I love chemistry and working with my hands. Mathematics and chemistry have change my life and have made me look at the world in a different way. On my free time I also enjoy surfing, fishing, cycling, and staying fit.
About Me
I'm 23 years old and am a junior at San Jose State University (SJSU). I chose SJSU because it has a very well known materials engineering department and accommodates me with all the tools I need to reach my career goals. My career goal is to become a working engineer in the materials field, which includes fabrication, project prep, material testing, and material development. My passion for materials science roots from what I have learned growing up with my dad who made a living off of building and installing cabinets out of erotic woods.
Throughout my education, I have found myself in study groups where I am always the one re-teaching the previous days' lesson. This gave me the privilege to tutor my classmates and also gain a solid understanding of the lesson. I also gained tutoring experience with younger students by helping my mother, who is an algebra teacher, give personal 1 on 1 tutoring sessions to her students. I have also tutored several family members and friends in mathematics (up to ordinary differential equations), chemistry, and physics.
My approach is to teach students the fundamental laws and then work with them on the deviations. Especially with math, it is important and memorable to understand where equations come from and know how to derive them when needed. The most important part of any project is the foundation. The utilization of this in both my personal education and my tutoring techniques has resulted in repeated succession.
