I am originally from San Diego and I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my education. Despite living in San Diego for 9 years, I never learned how to swim. I love to cook, it is a great way for me to de-stress and I enjoy exploring new restaurants here in Los Angeles.

About Me

Hi, I'm Florence! I am a recent graduate from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a minor in Society and Genetics. I have been volunteering my time tutoring and mentoring students since 2015. I would love to work with you and help you reach your goals!

Experience

I was a volunteer tutor at my high school for 2 years and I led the academic pillar of our multi-cultural organization at UCLA for 2 years. I also mentored and tutored children on the spectrum for 2 years.

Approach

I came from a low-income neighborhood and our school depended on volunteer tutors to help other students. The lack of resources in underserved areas such as my hometown made me want to give back in any way I can, especially through tutoring and education. I've always enjoyed helping my peers and other students understand complex ideas. Since most of my tutoring sessions have been one-on-one, I usually incorporate the Socratic Method so that I can guide the student through questions. This helps the student understand the concept while still getting structure and support from me.
