Fun Facts

I come from a small beach town called Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. My hobbies include kayaking, hiking, shopping, and cooking. I am a very positive, patient, and energetic person. Teaching is my passion and I look forward to many years to come in the educational system.

About Me

I am a sophomore at UNC-Charlotte and my major is Elementary Education with a minor in English as a Second Language. I currently have a 3.9 GPA that I am very proud of because I worked hard to earn it. After college I plan to travel to South America and teach English for two years. When I come back from South America I plan to teach elementary education in North or South Carolina. I hope to one day get awarded "Teacher of the Year."

I have a lot of experience charlotte">tutoring. Overall, I have had about seven years of charlotte">tutoring experience (all volunteering). In middle school, I was in a program where I read and taught kindergarten age children. Then moving into high school, I volunteered at local daycare systems to teach basic skills. In college, I have tutored at Albemarle Road Elementary School and at the YWCA after school program. My experience charlotte">tutoring children has heightened my passion for teaching and I can't wait until the day that I have my own classroom.

One word to describe my approach to charlotte">tutoring would be "persistent." I believe in never giving up on a goal, so I make sure that the goals that I set for my students are reached. All students have different ways of learning and it's up to us as charlotte">tutors to teach accordingly to the way that they learn. Likewise, I believe that by charlotte">tutoring students in different ways that appeal to the different senses such as visually, spatially, physically, or even musically.
