One pursuit that I love is outdoor sports especially rafting and skiing. Any time I can I try to be outside enjoying myself. I am a Colorado native but I have traveled a lot and that is my other passion.
About Me
I graduated in 2011 from Southern Oregon University with my B.A. in Foreign Language and Culture with an emphasis in Spanish. My overall GPA was 3.8 and my Major GPA was 3.9. I am going back to school in a post graduate program for Speech Language Pathology with the plan to pursue my Masters in Bilingual Speech Language Pathology and work in that field.
I have extensive denver">tutoring and teaching experience. I was a teacher's assistant in a summer school program. I also taught English in Chile at a professional school and tutored individual students outside of class in English. I have also tutored Business English in Chile. I tutored an after school program in Oregon that was aimed at the Hispanic population but tutored in every high school subject. In Spain I tutored English to children ranging in age from 3 years old to 13 years old. I have also been a certified substitute teacher for 3 years and have subbed for all ages (preschool -12th).
I know it is important for the student to be involved and interested in the subject and to be comfortable with the instructor, so I always give my best to the students and stay enthusiastic about the subject matter. My job is to ensure that my students have a solid foundation in the skill we are studying and continue to build their skills and confidence so that they can effectively use what they learned. My aim is to motivate my students to continue loving to learn after my class. In my teaching positions I have experienced how important it is to keep track of the students progress so that my teaching style can be shifted to accommodate how the student learns best. Every student has different learning needs and on the first day I work to discover what they are looking gain and meet that.
