Fun Facts
I LOVE being active. My family and I love doing any activities that involve hiking, biking, swimming, running and any other outdoor sports. I enjoy taking pictures and traveling. While I would describe myself as adventurous, I still have not yet overcome my fear of cats, although I am working on it.
About Me
I am currently a sophomore at NYU majoring in Global Public Health with a concentration in Medicine. I currently have a 3.75 cumulative GPA and dream of attending medical school and later becoming a surgeon. Last year I served as a representative of my hall in our dorm student government and this year I have received admission into the Dean's Circle Research Project where I will be studying the effects of globalization and traveling with other members to London in January.
For two years of high school I volunteered at the LEO Center where I tutored children ages 5-14 in all subjects. I then continued my passion for working with students in college last year by volunteering as a mentor in New York City's Strive for College Program where I was paired with two high school students and assisted them in writing their personal statement, completing FAFSA, studying for the SAT and various other activities included in the application process for college.
I have always been extremely passionate about school and loved learning. However, my younger brother has consistently struggled in school, never completely finding study methods or subjects that he liked. Growing up I realized that doing well in school requires different approaches depending on the individual. As a tutor,I will first attempt to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and then find tools that will aid in enhancing the child's learning. Furthermore, I believe that communication is key and cultivating each student to better understand themselves as a student is necessary in their academic success. In this way, I can choose certain study techniques that will be the most beneficial to the student.
