Fun Facts
My hobbies include playing the bass guitar and lacrosse. I really love music; I played the cello for the majority of my life and have taken a few music theory classes. I studied abroad in France and am proficient in the language. Although I've never performed competitively, swimming is one of my favorite activities!
About Me
I graduated from kalamazoo-college">Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan this year and am currently taking a gap year to get more teaching experience to apply for my Masters in Education. I graduated Cum Laude with a major in chemistry and a concentration in biochemistry. After I get my M.ed, I hope to start teaching high school chemistry classes.
I've volunteered at Woodward Elementary School, columbus">tutoring second and third graders in reading and math. I am also currently columbus">tutoring a seventh grade student in math through care.com. In college, I was able to help my peers with different subjects as well. With Frog columbus">Tutoring, I can continue pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher and helping children learn.
I find that the best approach to columbus">tutoring is to use analogies involving everyday life, so they can better visualize the concept and relate to it in a personal way. One of the biggest parts of learning is being able to compare and contrast. If the student were able to explain the concept back to me and or complete example problems, then the idea has effectively been conveyed.
