About Me

I came to Texas Christian University from Lake Oswego, Oregon because although I love Oregon,I really wanted to experience living somewhere different. I am a year and a half away from finishing my Mechanical Engineering B.S. at Texas Christian University with minors in Spanish and Mathematics. I am friendly, organized and responsible and am excited about finding ways to convey concepts and ideas to students so that they can relate and understand them!

I have tutored in various Spanish and math classes for family friends.I also have tutored to prepare someone for the SAT. I saw an improvement in their understanding of the material after working with them.

I am a very structured and organized person in every facet of life and my tutoring style reflects these qualities as well. I believe strongly in mnemonic strategies and learning the structure to solving problems by learning to recognize the “type” of problem in order to determine the method to solve it. In addition to helping students to recognize patterns in mathematic problems, I also explain it so that the student is not simply memorizing what to do next, but rather understanding the logical steps that need to happen in order to reach a solution. I believe that the best way to learn how to solve a problem is to do a variety of similar problems so that one of the problems will eventually help the material make sense. Also, I think that if there is a way to make an example problem relate to the student’s interests (i.e. relate the numbers to homeruns in baseball or flowers in a bouquet), it will make it easier for them to remember.
