Fun Facts
I am a British citizen! Although born in the United States, my mother is British and I have strong ties to the UK, including a British passport. Most of my family lives in England, Spain, or Italy.
About Me
I graduated from UC Berkeley with High Honors in English and High Distinction in General Scholarship. I attended Georgetown University Law Center, where I earned a Juris Doctor and graduated cum laude. I practiced as a lawyer for eight years (first at a private firm and then for a state agency) before deciding to switch practice areas from employment law to family law. I now plan to work as a lawyer part-time and spend the rest of my time tutoring and working as a freelance writer.
Experience
In law school, I worked as a Law Fellow, which is a teaching assistant for the first year legal writing course. I met with students one-on-one to tutor them in legal writing (both research memo and persuasive brief writing) and also assisted the professor in the classroom. Before law school, I tutored students in writing, vocabulary building, study skills, SAT English, and language arts for a private company. I also worked for a community college as a classroom tutor.
Approach
Above all, I strive to make learning a positive experience. I think too often learning feels like a chore instead of an interesting challenge. I love to learn, and I share that enthusiasm with my students. I especially love language and literature and encourage my students to become lifelong readers, too. In terms of nuts and bolts, I prioritize setting clear objectives, avoiding overwhelming students with too much information, and helping students keep organized (both at at the micro and macro
