In addition to loving learning languages and music, I am also interested by a variety of subjects. I love history and other art forms like theater and choir, and one of my favorite parts about the learning process is analysis, whether for literature, art, or other areas.

About Me

My name is Erin and my pronouns are she/her! I'm currently a freshman at LMU majoring in Modern Languages (studying Spanish and Mandarin). I have not currently received an official GPA, but all of my professors have informed me that I am doing very well in their classes. As a musician of 10 years, I also hope to restart that passion and get involved with campus music!

Experience

In regard to the areas I checked (Spanish & Music Theory):
I have been studying Spanish for 4.5 years, and next semester I will be starting upper-level Spanish with Spanish Linguistics 1. I passed the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam with a 5, and I received the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish for my high school district.
I have been playing piano for around 9-10 years, string bass for 6 years, and I have studied music theory for around 7 years. I passed the AP Music Theory exam with a 5.

Approach

I have been very fortunate in that I haven't faced severe difficulties in my academic journey, but I recognize that this has not been the same for others. Over the course of my schooling, I have seen many of my peers fall behind due to the pace of the curriculum. This has always troubled me, as I am a firm believer that learning pace is not reflective of ability. Tutoring provides a way for students to succeed in an often fast-paced environment, and I'd love to help them achieve that success.
