Fun Facts
Besides having a passion for languages and global studies, I also love music. I play the piano and double bass, and played the trombone in high school.
About Me
My name is Erin and my pronouns are she/her! I am a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a major in Spanish & Chinese, and a minor in International Relations. I graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA, and I hope to attend grad school for either linguistics or speech pathology!
Experience
SPANISH: II passed the AP Spanish Language & Culture exam with a perfect score (5), and took several upper-division courses in university that were taught entirely in Spanish.
MUSIC: I have been a musician for over a decade. I have passed the Certificate of Merit (music exam) level 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 for piano/music theory.
TEACHING: I currently work as an Instructional Assistant for Torrance Unified School District. I also have 3 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant.
Approach
I strongly believe in positive reinforcement--motivating students to continue because of what they have done correctly, rather than forcing them to continue to avoid repeating errors. I believe that positive motivation is of the utmost importance as it removes fear or anxiousness around learning for students, and makes them want to strive to be the best they can.
