I was a national speech and debate competitor, I qualified for several national competitions like NSDA and NIETOC. I was public speaking captain for 3 years and taught public speaking skills to high school students. This past year I worked as a speech consultant for a high school debate team.

About Me

Hello, I'm Anjali! I am a sophomore at Cornell University, I am a business and pre-law major. I love reading, economics, math, and public speaking. Throughout high school and freshman year of college, I capitalized on my reading and public speaking skills by pursuing organizations like speech and debate and DECA. Now I'd like to apply my skills to helping younger students prosper in subjects that they see as a challenge. I believe that in every challenge there is an opportunity to grow.

Experience

I have two years of tutoring experience. I worked for Harmony X Tutor. I had a wonderful experience, I grew so much as a tutor! I worked with several different age groups, ranging from pre-schoolers to 9th graders. Most days I worked with middle schoolers and taught math and English. I did one on one tutoring with the students that were behind in classes (due to the pandemic), but I also did group tutoring with 4-5 students at a time.

Approach

I gave extra time and attention to the students that had learning disabilities like ADHD. I got the opportunity to work with students who had autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. In addition to teaching students with learning disabilities, I worked with 2 students that were English Language Learners, so their first language was not English. For ELL learners I exercised patience and kindness and just helped them come out of their shells! My biggest goal as a tutor is to build a connection with my student.
