Fun Facts

I'm way too in love with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I've seen every movie twice! I'm also a choir nerd and I sing at University Christian Church every Sunday. I can also tutor introductory music theory, since I minored in music in college.

About Me

I'm a PhD-track graduate student in astronomy at TCU. I plan to graduate with my Master's this December and with my PhD in 2025. After grad school, I'd like to teach physics and astronomy at a liberal arts college.

Experience

At Randolph College, I gained experience tutoring first-year undergraduate physics and calculus. I also became an Academic Strategies Tutor at Randolph, helping struggling students to learn to manage their time, take notes, and complete homework in a timely manner.

Approach

In college, my best friend struggled through her math and physics courses, despite her being a physics major. Her struggles and my helping her through those struggles motivated me to teach physics and math in an intuitive way for students.

College Algebra Tutoring

I've taken mathematics courses in undergraduate up to differential equations. Algebra is a foundational subject of calculus and differential equations.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

Much of pre-calculus is to build an intuition for how functions work as well as the foundations of trigonometry. As an astrophysicst, I constantly use these foundations in my research and in my graduate coursework.

Calculus I Tutoring

Differentiation is one of the most important concepts to learn in undergraduate mathematics. I used calculus throughout my college career in physics and even more so now in my graduate career. I got an A in Calculus I

Calculus 2 Tutoring

Integration and Taylor Series are extremely important foundations for physicists to learn. I continue to practice my knowledge of those two subjects by watching Black Pen Red Pen videos. I got an A in Calculus II.

Calculus 3 Tutoring

Vector calculus is foundational to the theories of classical electromagnetism and gravity. I am constantly using the concepts that I learned in calculus 3 in my graduate coursework. I got an A in Calculus III in college.

Physics I Tutoring

Physics I is the first course any physics major takes on the subject in their undergraduate career. I got an A in Physics I.

Physics II Tutoring

I got an A in Physics II.

Physics Advance Tutoring

I got the following grades in the following lecture courses:

Relativity and Introduction to Quantum Mechanics - B+
Quantum Mechanics I - B
Quantum Mechanics II - B+
Classical Mechanics - A
Electromagnetism - A
Thermodynamics - A
Math Methods - B

Music Theory Tutoring

Although I'm no longer studying music, I've had a passion for music for a long time. I minored in music in my undergraduate college, and took a two-semester lecture/lab course for music theory. I got an A in both semesters for both the lecture and lab.
