Fun Facts

Aside from math, my interests include music, writing, snowboarding, and soccer. I am originally from Reno, Nevada, and have lived in 9 cities, including 2 foreign countries. As an extra fun fact, I play a thief in Dungeons and Dragons every week with a small group of my friends.

About Me

I graduated from Rice University in 2013 with a major in mathematical economic analysis, a minor in mathematics, and a certificate in Spanish language and cultural competency. My final GPA was 3.65. I also participated in study abroad programs at the London School of Economics and Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. I currently work part time as an intern in a recording studio, and hope to one day take my skills in mathematics to the business & analytics side of the music industry at a record label or production house.

I have tutored mathematics across all levels, from elementary through high school and college, all the way up through real analysis and abstract algebra. My experience includes tutoring informally, as well as through the Rice Student Tutor program, and the Tutoring Center at University of Nevada, Reno, in my hometown.

I prefer a hands-on approach, where the student is given the opportunity to work through particular problems they may be struggling with, all the while asking questions and resolving confusion on any particular theorems or concepts that they may be struggling with. The best way to learn math is to do math, in my experience, and a face to face interaction is a great way to zero in on whether the student learns best through verbal explanation, visual learning, or repeated practice, all in a friendly, low-stress environment.
