About Me
I recently graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with distinctive honors Cum Laude. I just recently took the PCAT and scored above the 90th percentile. I am in the middle of finishing up my applications for pharmacy school for class of 2019.
As an undergraduate, I was a Teaching Assistant for about 2 years in both Organic Chemistry I and II. During that time I worked with over 200 students, on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting assisting with problems during class time and doing remedial teaching on class topics during office hours.
As a student who had English as a second language, I had a really hard time listening in class and being able to read and understand. However, in undergrad, I had the chance to take a class on pedagogy which was about the science of learning. After taking this class, not only did I improve as a student but also as a teaching assistant. I gained abilities in this class that have allowed me to be able to identify students who are struggling with topics. My approach includes encouragement of understanding of the foundation topics. In my experience I have found that students who have weak foundations from previous classes are always the ones who struggle the most. By emphasizing the need for each class from the beginning, it would lead to success in subsequent classes.
