About Me

Hi, my name is Elena Weinberg! I graduated from Bunker Hill Community College in 2016 with a Certificate in Early Childhood Development. I also have an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. I am originally from Kingston, Pennsylvania but have been a Brookline resident since 2009. I have always loved working with children, particularly younger children, because I believe that teachers play a pivotal role in what children learn about the world around them.

Experience

I have previously tutored school-aged children in basic math, reading, English, and spelling. I was also a Big Sister for 3 years. From 2016 to 2020 I was a teacher in both toddler and Pre-K classrooms. I also volunteer at a food pantry twice a week. I am proud of the fact that I taught myself how to use both PC and Mac computers.

Approach

I struggled in school and found learning to be difficult. My mother would find new and inventive ways to make my homework and studying more fun, and that's been my approach as I tutor individuals myself. For example, taking a math problem involving fractions and using a concrete example to make it more relateable. I am aware that every person learns differently, and adapt my teaching when necessary.
