About Me
Hello!
My name is Mariko Antonacci, and I am currently a junior at Georgia State University, majoring in English secondary education. Through community service, I have developed a true passion for teaching, as well as a foundation for my future educational career! I am currently involved in four honors programs at Georgia State University and hold a 3.92 GPA. I am also a native speaker of Japanese and love being bilingual.
I prefer one-on-one atlanta">tutoring, but have experience with both individual and group atlanta">tutoring. I am a volunteer at Literacy Action in Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that works with adults of all ages to raise literacy rates in my community. My students have ranged from those who are first learning the English alphabet to those who are preparing for the GED. I am also a committee member for the PACE program at Georgia State University, a program designed to mentor middle school children in math in order to raise CRCT scores. English, literature, and writing are my strong points; however, my subjects are very flexible for K-12 students.
I hold a firm belief that a positive attitude towards learning creates the best results. By encouraging students to learn the material in a fun, productive, and relatable way, the subject will naturally grasp their interest. I work closely with students in ensuring that they fully understand the material provided to them. I will guide the student to find answers and stimulate thinking, but never give up the answer to them. This way, I can ensure that the student understands the correct processes and relevance so that they have the confidence and skills to be able to do it themselves. I highly encourage students to ask any and all questions. I hold education as my highest priority and encourage an ongoing education for all of my students!
