Fun Facts
One fun fact is that I absolutely love animals. We have six pets in our house. Our three cats are George, Jelly Bean, and Rook. They are always entertaining. I am also passionate about our three guinea pigs--Pesto, Prosciutto, and Peppercorn. I love designing new comforts for their enclosure. It is a lot of responsibility to care for so many unique critters, but I enjoy the challenge and their company is therapeutic and joy-sparking. I also adore horses, birds, dogs...all creatures on the earth!
About Me
I am originally from New Orleans, LA and moved to Fort Worth in 2011 to pursue my education degrees at TCU. After completing my graduate degree in 2016, I began teaching in a local public school district where I was English Department Head for 3 years. I currently teach home-schooled students all over the state remotely from home. I live with my wonderful fiance (also an English teacher) and our three cats and three guinea pigs.
Experience
I am currently a teacher for an educational company, and I teach English 4 and College Prep English to 11th and 12th graders online full-time. Before this, I spent 5 years teaching English I to ninth graders in a Title I district. I graduated with my Secondary English Education Bachelors and Masters in Language and Literacy Instruction from TCU. Over the last 15 years, I have held a variety of tutoring positions in various subjects.
Approach
Humor and hard work are so important in education. I want to help every child/teen/adult feel empowered, accomplished, valued, and joyful when they are pursuing their academic goals. My sessions are often hilarious and always relevant to my pupil's or pupils' goals, interests, and abilities. My approach includes authentic literacy tasks and inquiry-based learning in which students gain organization, communication, and executive functioning skills that will serve them all their lives.
