About Me

I am an undergraduate at Iona College studying speech pathology. Since I earned my full academic scholarship, my education is very important to me and when it comes to school, my main focus is to study and maintain a high GPA. I have been bronx">tutoring for a couple of years now and I really enjoy helping my students succeed. I have worked with many students of different ages. I am very enthusiastic about helping students learn and I believe that I can be a great role model for my students. When I came to the United States, my family and I lost everything during the Kosovo war but, our ambition to succeed pushed us to great achievements. I quickly learned English and received many awards for my academic success from grade school up until now in college. My main goal is to receive my doctoral degree in speech pathology and work as a speech pathologist in schools.

I can adequately work with children who have a language barrier because I can personally relate to them. I was once an ESL student when I first came here and through the help of my own bronx">tutor, I was able to learn English and I can use my own experience as an encouragement for my own students to continue learning. I began bronx">tutoring children when I was 16 years old. I have tutored children with speech impediments, undeveloped reading skills, and children who lack a basic understanding of writing-related concepts. I am tremendously proud of my students because they have all shown me great improvements.

My bronx">tutoring approach is simple and organized. When I bronx">tutor a student, I try to figure out what their weakness are and through our sessions those weaknesses will be turned into strengths. To figure out what the student needs to be tutored on, I will conduct an assessment aiming at student’s specific issues in order to provide a lesson plan of bronx">tutoring specifically tailored to meet my students needs.
