Fun Facts

I am a positive individual, who at times can be overly enthusiastic. I love running, animals, and neuropsychology. Currently, I am studying for the GRE, so I can relate to the struggles students face. However, I feel the best way to overcome these struggles is to develop a plan and stick to it.

About Me

I am a recent graduate from the University of Colorado, Denver. I graduated in May of 2014 with a B.A. in Psychology, and my overall GPA was 3.85. While in school, I was selected into a NIH funded program to get undergraduates research experience in Neuroscience. I was with this program for 1.5 years completing research in behavioral neuroscience. Currently, I am volunteering on two UCD research projects, volunteering at the VA Hospital, and I am applying to Clinical Neuropsychology PhD programs.

In April and May of this year, I volunteered with Reading Partners. I was a reading denver">tutor for an elementary aged child. I was able to use the lesson plan developed by Reading Partners to assist my student with word pronunciation, word recognition, and spelling. Throughout my college experience, I have helped fellow classmates with one off denver">tutoring sessions on course material. In my General Chemistry II course, I tutored a fellow classmate and lab partner on reaction order and the effects of inter-molecular attractive forces. Also, I was part of a GRE study group that took turns denver">tutoring each other on GRE math, GRE vocabulary, and reading-comprehension/colorado/denver">reading comprehension.

For my denver">tutoring approach, I would first assess the course syllabus. I would create a test based on the learning points outlined on the syllabus. I would have the student complete this test as a way to determine with which key points to denver">tutor the student. Then I would use an interactive lesson plan to assist the student with understanding the course material. The interactive learning would incorporate fill in the blank worksheets, having the student "teach" the material back to me in his/her own words, and then completion of the student's homework to test that the necessary knowledge was obtained.
