About Me
I'm a physics education major at the washington">University of Washington with plans to go to grad school for secondary education. Tutoring started off as just a side gig, but I've come to love it and now want to pursue education as a career!
Experience
I've been tutoring for about 3 and a half years now, working primarily one-on-one with middle school and high school students. My primary subjects are Math, Physics, and French (all up to intro-college level), but I've also tutored English, Chemistry, Test Prep, and other various subjects up to the high school level. I have experience working with certain behavioral challenges and learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia.
Approach
My approach focuses not just on the subject matter but also on helping the student become more confident in their own abilities, as that can often be a larger obstacle to success. I first take some time to get to know the student and their learning style so that I can tailor my teaching style to match. I guide them and answer questions, but I also encourage students to make attempts at their work even if they are not sure, with the understanding that making mistakes is not just acceptable, it's good and necessary. This patient, constructive approach helps to instill students with both the skills and the confidence to handle difficult assignments.
