I have a passion for Medieval History. I'm currently taking a year-long course online from Cambridge University in the UK about the history of the Middle Ages in England. When I'm not working or learning, I'm spending time with Taco and Nacho, my two amazing pups!

About Me

I am a licensed teacher in Illinois who left the classroom after many years to move into tutoring full-time. My focus is on Literacy/Reading, English, and Academic Coaching. I love to work with students of all ages helping them to achieve their best.

Experience

I have undergraduate degrees in both liberal arts and nursing as well as a Master's in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. I've taught second and fourth grade for 15+ years and also worked as a nurse in both school and psychiatric settings.

Approach

As a child, I had an easy time learning to read and spent much of my childhood with my nose buried in a book. When I began teaching, I could see how hard it was for some of my students to learn to read and progress in English. This always impacted how they felt about themselves. To me, as a teacher, there is nothing better than the excitement of working with a student and helping them to overcome any barriers that are holding them back.
