Fun Facts

I love making and creating crafts, decorating, watching TCM movies and being outside....digging in the dirt, planting flowers and playing with my rescue dog Lil' Bit. I love to cheer for the underdog .I also love to watch my son coach football with the Rajin Cajuns and now the University of Florida Gators.

Fun Fact : My mother gave birth to me at 38 years of age in the 50"s. I had my last son at 40 years of age....first birthday I felt my chronological age.

About Me

I'm currently a 3rd grade Resource teacher at a year round Leadership school in Shreveport, Louisiana, called Shreve Island Elementary. I'm looking to retire from the public school classroom setting,.I plan to move back home to Indianapolis, IN in July. after being away for over 40 years. However, after tutoring 4th and 5th grade students in lost learning I am real inspired to help other students get caught up in lacking academic skills to the best of their ability.

Experience

I have taught Early Childhood in Houston, Texas for 4-5 years Theiss Elem.
3rd grade for 4 years, & 4th grade 1 year,Shreve Island Elem.
All were Sp Ed Resource classrooms. I taught both ELA, Math, study skills, and Social emotional learning.
Have taught/tutored After School Academy for 3 years preparing 3,4 & 5th grade students for the LEAP Lousiana Standardized Assessment.
Currently tutoring 4 & 5th students with lost learning in reading comprehension, note taking and writing paragraphs.

Approach

I approach teaching with a Can Do, Will Do attitude, meaning I feel anyone can learn something if they apply themselves. I always start out with low level materials to build the students confidence up and then gradually bring the level up to where they are able to perform.
