Fun Facts

One of my passions aside from education and neuroscience, is tennis. I have been playing since I was 12 years old and have loved it since. I also love anything outdoors , so you can find me exploring anywhere most of the time. I am a middle child of 4, and I grew up in Mexico.

About Me

I am a senior Biochemistry student minoring in Neuroscience and STEM education. I have been studying at the University of Texas at Dallas for now four years and will be graduating in May 2022. I hope to join the workforce soon, as I am still in the job application process but hope to go into the area of education. After working for a year, I hope to go back to graduate school and pursue a degree in Educational Neuroscience.

Experience

As a member of National Honor Society, I had the opportunity to tutor elementary students with their math and reading courses. I also had the opportunity to volunteer at my university's Intellichoice tutoring program and tutored ELS students in k-12 levels to work in their reading and math courses. Additionally, I have clinical experience in elementary, middle, and high school levels in the areas of Science. Being part of the UTeach Program at UTDallas enabled me to get experience.

Approach

When I was younger, I had to transition through different learning environments, a trajectory that was difficult but facilitated by my excellent teachers. Throughout the years, I've learned about the power of metacognition, studying practices, reconsolidation of memories, etc. I have learned to be a better teacher through becoming a better learner.
