Fun Facts
My greatest passions are literature and politics. I’m undeterred by the disparity between fiction and reality and comforted by the notion of erasure. I read to honor the trials of my forebears and write in pursuit of utopia. My YouTube Channel Mandy’s Musings allows me to share this passion with my peers and support today’s readers in their transition to becoming tomorrow’s leaders!
About Me
I am a rising Freshman at Duke University planning to major in Public Policy Analysis with a certificate in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. At Duke, I will take part in the FOCUS program for Humanitarian Challenges along with approximately 30 peers. I am excited to compete with the Duke Debating Society and meet fellow students from all around the world. After graduation, I hope to pursue a law degree and work in public service.
Experience
As the former Director of Operations of one of Miami’s greatest student-run nonprofits, Tutoring for Tomorrow, I have first-hand experience with all dimensions of the tutoring business— from planning lessons to managing client retention. I like to begin by assessing my students’ needs. Once I speak with them about their experiences with the subject and study habits, we discuss their goals and motivation behind seeking support from a tutor; this knowledge allows me to tailor my lessons to each student’s needs, renew their confidence in times of difficulty, and routinely update their parents (if desired) regarding the student’s progress.
