Fun Facts
My favorite pastime is cooking. However, I only cook when I am happy and try my best not to make it a chore. Recently, I have been watching Kdramas. Finally, I am the oldest of five.
About Me
I am a senior at the University of South Florida with a major in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Aging Studies. I have gotten a GPA of 3.90 or higher all my semesters at USF except for two. Currently, I work in a lab studying neurodegenerative diseases. After I graduate, I hope to complete a research postbacc at the NIH and apply for MD/Ph.D programs.
Experience
I have spent three semesters working as a learning assistant for Cellular Processes Lab (BSC2010L) at USF. As a LA, I facilitate group activities and increase student understanding of concepts using real-world examples. This lab focuses on cellular respiration and fermentation, scientific method, photosynthesis, DNA fingerprinting, and intro to genetics. For this role, I am professionally trained. Also, as the oldest of five, I am tasked with tutoring them in subject matters when they struggle
Approach
When I first moved to the US, I was at risk of failing first grade because of my English skills. I have come a long way, and I think this was possible because I can identify my weaknesses and strengths in any STEM course and English. Furthermore, I believe that any child can succeed as long as they are dedicated and have someone to guide them. Also, if an approach is not working I am willing to adapt to every student's needs.
