Fun Facts
I love to hang out with my identical twin sister! We are always up for an adventure and regularly plans trips to different parts of the U.S. Most recently we took our two grandsons to Phoenix AZ to explore the desert!
About Me
I am a certified teacher in 4-8 Generalist and High School Sciences. I taught for 9 years and am currently an AVID tutor for my local school district. My desire is to help students succeed in school and in life.
Experience
As a teacher for 9 years I taught 5th-6th grade History (Social Studies) and 8th - 11th grade Sciences. I have taught in a private Christian school and in public school. Before that I home schooled my youngest son.
Before teaching I was a Research Scientist for Alcon Laboratories and currently I am an AVID tutor for my local school district and love helping students succeed.
Approach
As a teacher, I know all students learn differently so I seek to learn how best the student learns and adjust my teaching approach to them. I love using a "hands on" approach and real world examples in my teaching. It makes learning more relevant to the student.
I also love to see their "light bulb moment" so I try not to give answers, but let the student think through the process so they learn to think and problem solve on their own.

Before I became a teacher, I was a research scientist for Alcon Laboratories and conducted many experiments. I am certified to teach all sciences from 7th grade to 12th grade and have taught high school Biology, Chemistry and Physics classes.
Earth Science Tutoring
My undergraduate degree from SFA is Geology, where I maintained the dean's list throughout. I have also taught 8th grade Earth Science and am certified to each Earth Science in Texas. This is actually my favorite science class to teach, with Chemistry being in a close 2nd!
