Fun Facts
Although I am an adult now, I still find pleasure in all the small things life has to offer. In my spare time I can be seen playing in the park with my nephews and niece, running around, swinging on the swings, and sliding down the slide with as much excitement and energy as my nephews and niece. Working with children has been my passion since the first time I was asked what I wanted to do for a living. Due to this passion, I know that "work" will be another one of life's little pleasures.
About Me
I am a senior at northridge">California State University Northridge (CSUN), where I will receive a degree in Child and Adolescent Development with a minor in Psychology. Upon graduating, I plan to attend graduate school to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work or Psychology. My ultimate goal, once completing graduate school, is to become a Child Therapist.
Helping , whether it is a friend or a classmate, has always been a priority to me. I have had experience tutoring children ages 5-12 on varies subjects. Most of the tutoring was done one-on-one or with the after-school program LA's Best, both on a volunteer basis. Now as part of the Frog Tutoring Team, I am excited and committed to helping every student reach their highest learning potential with each session.
I have always earned good grades in school. Still, due to the fact that I never asked questions in class, I felt as though I was not reaching my full potential as a student. One of the reasons I did not ask questions is because I did not feel comfortable asking a teacher a question about a particular lesson. As a tutor, one of my main goals is to make the sessions an open space for students to feel like they can ask any question. It is important to get those questions answered so that students can reach their full learning potential. By answering any lingering questions a student may have, will enable students to think critically and to eventually answer their own questions without me giving them answers. I feel it is my responsibility to encourage and guide a student to the solution, wether it is by asking the student questions, giving cues, or using study skills and strategies that they can use in all classes.
