Fun Facts
I enjoy reading many different genres. I am often reading two or three books at the same time and can pick up a book weeks after I put it down without missing a beat. I also like music, dancing, and art classes.
About Me
I have always been interested in working with children and helping them reach their highest potential. I have over 15 years of experience, working with a variety of students including those with learning disabilities, those who perform below grade level, those who are English language learners, those who perform on level, and those who are gifted.
I began tutoring in high school at an after-school program for elementary students. I continued tutoring for a community-based program and private agencies while attending Boston College. Upon graduating with a Master's of Social Work, I began working as a tutor for a private agency in Miami, Florida. I also taught at a public school for 11 years.
Experience
I volunteered to tutor students in a program called Supplemental Program of Educational Skills, and I also tutored the MCAS language for the Princeton Review while in College. After graduating, I worked as a tutor for Focus Learning Academy and later Apex Gakuin. I was also a classroom teacher for 11 years during that time.
Approach
I do take a Socratic approach, and I try to scaffold instruction to meet the student's current level.
