Fun Facts
When I was young, I spent more time singing than speaking and quickly discovered a passion for music. Nowadays, you'll always find me humming underneath my breath or randomly burst out into whatever song has been replaying in my head.
About Me
Currently, I am a medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I graduated from Hopkins in 2020 with a degree in neuroscience and was on Dean's list for 6 semesters. I hope to match into a surgical speciality and am passionate about global health.
Experience
I have been tutoring throughout all stages of my life. In middle school, I was selected as a peer math and English tutor and continued to find tutoring opportunities in high school. At the same time, I often assisted my siblings with their homework and content areas they struggled with. During college, I volunteered as a tutor for the Refugee Health Project and worked with elementary school kids to cover reading and homework assignments. I also tutored adults to prepare for the GED.
Approach
I am an avid fan of the teach back method as it allows for tutoring sessions to students to be engaged during the learning process and also allows me to confirm their understanding. By providing students with the opportunity to act as the teacher, I am able to bolster their confidence in their own capabilities. This also provides me with an opportunity to correct any misunderstandings and utilize a different method to teach the material based on their needs.
